Season 2 of Finding Carter premiered 31 March, 2015; the mid-season finale aired 16 June, 2015, and the mid-season premiere aired 6 October, 2015. The season finale aired 15 December, 2015.
Premise
2A
The hunt for Lori Stevens unearths new secrets for Carter, as well as the rest of the Wilson family. After the secret is revealed, Taylor struggles to cope and looks to other resources for help. Crash's return brings tension, new threats, and danger to the Wilson family and Max. Meanwhile, Grant gets closer to Joan and Buddy whilst David and Elizabeth sort out their problems.

Production and development
Finding Carter was renewed for 12-episode second season on 19 August, 2014[21]. On 10 January, 2015, it was announced that Season 2 would premiere on 31 March, 2015.
On 18 May, 2015, Finding Carter was renewed for an additional twelve episodes, bringing the second season to a total of twenty-four episodes.[22] The mid-season finale was 16 June, 2015; the second half of the season is set to premiere October 2015.[23]
Filming took place between 20 July, 2015[24] and 31 October, 2015[25].
Casting
Background/extras roles were cast for 2B for submissions from Atlanta, Georgia aged 22-60 with a press/business professional look to fill the space of the courtroom and to act as reporters. The casting notice was available 16 July, 2015[26] to 20 July, 2015; roles were paid, and filming began 20 July in Atlanta.[24] There have been many more casting calls posted between July 20-31.[27]
Jackson Rathbone was cast as Jared, a charismatic and edgy owner of a local, hip bar; he'll be a new love interest for Carter.[28]
Trivia
- Alex Saxon was promoted to a main role.
- Anna Jacoby-Heron's car got towed around the time of the 12-episode renewal for 2B.[29]
- New characters Abby, Hillary, Shay, Madison, Damon and Ben were introduced this season.
- Grant moves out of the Wilson house, and David and Elizabeth work through their marriage.
- Lori and Davd had love child Ben Wallace, who got lost in the system for a while.[30]
- All of the episodes in this season were named after notable songs.
Spoilers
- Bird will not reunite with Madison.[31] Madison probably won't be returning for 2B, but Damon will.[32]
- Lori may not actually want custody of Carter—she's just trying to get out of jail.[32]
- Ben was subpoenaed; he didn't know of his relation to his birth parents beforehand, and Lori will claim she has been looking for him for years, which will make him have some resentments.[32]
- Carter will connect with Ben. However, she is ready to cut ties with Lori and move on with her life.[33]
- Elizabeth will not rehash the fact that David slept with Lori, but she will have some thoughts about what he should do about the new circumstances, and she will be resentful about some things.[34]
- Carter will drop out of school and find a job as a bartender, wherein she will begin to see the situation from a different angle. Her world will be thrown upside down, and she will be caught between staying with the person she thought was her mother and going to her real family. Carter will be involved with "a racy, underground party circuit".[34]
- Sparks will fly between Carter and Jared.[28]
- Season 2B will pick up where 2A left off.[34]
- 2B's sypnosis is as followed:
- "After the shocking revelation that Carter's father had a secret son with Lori, Carter's world is thrown into chaos. As Carter gets to know the mysterious brother she never knew she had, she also must figure out where she really belongs. She ultimately decides to drop out of school to find her own path and lies her way into a job as a bartender, where she finds herself in a whole new light. She'll introduce her inner circle to a racy, underground party circuit. Her new, fast lifestyle is the perfect replacement for the tedium of high school, until it speeds out of her control… and she needs her family more than ever."[35]
