After the Season 2 finale, what do you think happened in the "Finding Carter" universe?
After the Season 2 finale, what do you think happened in the "Finding Carter" universe?
History shows (pun intended) that fans can revive shows. If you think you're the only one visiting this fan Wiki, think again! Over 2k views have happened on this fan corner of the web within the past week.
If editing articles aren't your thing, discussions are pretty fun! :)
(And even if we can't revive it or whatever, we can still communal...ize? Not sure if that's a word, buttttt I'm using it anyway. XD)
If there is anyone who is familiar with designing Wikia communities, who can come up with a color scheme not so blinding, please—be our guest! I didn't realize the intensity of the colors on my old laptop, and the theme has been the same for so long...maybe a new look will do it some good.
If you can't work it around the wordmark, we do have another one, which was originally used for this Wikia before merging with the other one.
Finding Carter was cancelled; there will be no season 3.
Wikipedia, and similar community-driven websites, is not a credible resource. By dictionary definition, it is "a woman who is married to one's father after the divorce of one's parents or the death of one's mother". To keep things communally correct (i.e. within the majority community of couples who have sought out/used genetic donations), I'm using a) community-preferred terminology, b) what is scientifically correct, and c) what is legally correct—in that order.
Thus far, there is no legitimate source confirming Pennsylvania acknowledges illegitimate children as stepchildren. I've found something on foreign affairs regarding marriages and stepchildren, but it's directed at immigration standards. If you can back up the relationship with at least three credible sources, we can discuss changing this with the rest of the Finding Carter Wiki users—even a legal doc and one article would suffice.
The definition of stepchildren also varies throughout the world, hence why a legal confirmation is needed, or even some articles proving it. This guideline was set in place after discussing with several peoples in similar situations (my cousin is a surrogate for a same-sex couple, and she runs a popular mommy blog I occasionally post on, so I used her connections/access into the community) what the preferred terminology is, for the most part.
The Wiki needed a standard guideline for many relationships, because too many people couldn't agree on one thing, and edit wars are exhausting. In some ways, this standard/argument is similar to the one about Elizabeth not being the twins' biological mom, even though she actually—and scientifically/medically—is.
I hope this makes sense. :s
Edit: Forgot to add this:
We can try it. :) In the past, random anons were coming in and defacing actor/character pages along the lines of defamation, hence why I protected the main ones. :s
But I'm up for trying it. It was more when the Wilsons were having their affair. D; Maybe it won't be so bad now. :3 and it'd be great to have more contributors around. :D
Let me know! Episodes are usually locked until one week after airing, and main characters/characters often targeted for spam are closed to public editing. I could have messed up, though, and accidentally locked somethin for much longer than expected, so please let me or Leah know, and we'll get things resolved/fixed back to normal.
Emily Whitesell, the show's EP, has teased about Max & Carter being endgame... how do you feel about that? Personally, I'm very eh. I ship Maxlor. :|

Wikia has a new system for these now (RE:Thread:8417177), but it's going to take some time to switch them over and have them still work flawlessly (or at least somewhat so), especially with my keyboard broken!
Thus, please bear with us. c:
No worries ;)
We do, actually... the writers and actors have said multiple times that Ben is their love child. ;)
I think I updated the template or something, or the fields are different than they were before? Or I had added content... I didn't think of that. D;
When Finding Carter was renewed for 12 additional episodes, I originally thought this meant for a 2B, so I set up the wikia accordingly. However, MTV advertised via social media until here recently that it was a third season, therefore I went through and changed 2.13 through 2.24 to work for a third season. Now, it is back to being advertised as 2B.
I'm working on renaming all the season 3 article pages back to 2.15 through 2.24, but there are things needing to be updated beyond that. In the {{episode}} template, the season needs to be changed to 2 and the number updated accordingly; the season field in {{episode}} is what categorises the article into the correct episode. In other words, categories don't need to be manually added or removed, the season number merely needs to be changed.
You can find a list of all the episode articles needing to be updated here. The bolded episode title in quotes on the article (outside the infobox) also needs to be updated.
I currently have a blog project I am already working on remodeling, so I don't have that much time to dedicate to updating everything right now.
If you're wanting to contribute, but you don't know where to start, updating all articles so "Season 3" is out of the picture and 2B, if anything, is added into it is a good place to start.
You might have to sign in/create an account for some articles, but… if you have an account and are also auto-confirmed, you should be able to rename the articles as well!
An addition to this: http://community.babycenter.com/post/a25865113/sensitivity_awareness_-_biological_versus_genetic_mother_terms
Technically speaking, Lori and Elizabeth are both biological mothers to the twins. Using "genetic donor" and "birth mother" allows us to avoid confusion, acknowledge sensitivity around the topic and remain respectful to families using donor eggs, and be specific and precise in our diction. Main articles (i.e. non-user pages) are supposed to hold a neutral, non-biased point of view. Using terms frequently used in the community of parents who have conceived via the help of eggs allows us to be consistent… and avoid being insensitive. :)
I posted a blog entry about this, but I'll mention it here, too, since I can add this to various topics/articles, which will make it more likely to be seen.
I did a lot of research into parenting communities wherein people use a surrogate or egg donor, and the terms the parents and the children most prefer to use are "genetic donor" and "genetic mother".
Many parents still call their child their biological or "birth" child; some of which admitted to feeling inadequate while they called their egg donor the biological or "real" mother. The majority of the parents whose stories, experiences, opinions, etc. I read stressed that they are not the child's "adoptive" anything, because they did have the child—they child is their own.
Because it is such a controversial topic and can cause a lot of hurt, please do not call Lori Stevens the twins' "real" or "biological" mother in the main articles. You are free to have your own opinion in non-series pages (e.g. your blog posts, comments, and forum posts), however.
Elizabeth Wilson is Carter and Taylor's birth mother; David Wilson is their biological father; Lori Stevens is the twins' genetic mother and the Wilsons' genetic donor.
Since Ben Wallace is the result of an affair David Wilson had in a marriage, Elizabeth Wilson is not legally his stepmother, thus they are mere acquaintances. A stepparent is that of a later marriage, i.e. a marriage after the one with the child's biological parents. :)
Would anyone be interested in transcript versions of episodes? Could be useful; contemplating adding sections for them. :)
It requires admin access to the Wiki overall. However, not all the recurring characters will be listed, as the code fetches only a few pages from the corresponding category, thus making the linking automatic. :) Pages listed are often either the most popular pages from that category or the most recently updated. Cache, however, takes a few hours to clear on the Wiki.
