Since Ben Wallace is the result of an affair David Wilson had in a marriage, Elizabeth Wilson is not legally his stepmother, thus they are mere acquaintances. A stepparent is that of a later marriage, i.e. a marriage after the one with the child's biological parents. :)

We don't even know if he really is their son or not. Lori could've just somehow paid him to come as her son. We'll know when 2x13 airs in October.

We do, actually... the writers and actors have said multiple times that Ben is their love child. ;)
